Current Available Dogs

Below is a listing of dogs currently available for adoption by BCRO. PLEASE take the time to read the bio's fully ... we put alot of effort into evaluating    and working with the dogs in foster care. If the dog you are interested in is not a suitable match we are always willing to find the dog that is.

We do not adopt to homes with Chidren under 10 yrs old. Most of our dogs come into foster care already having negative experiences and history with kids, under no circumstances we will not adopt these dogs back into homes with children.

Our adoption fee is $200. All dogs are altered and UTD on shots prior to placement.

If you are interested in adopting one of these dogs, please fill out an application, or get in touch with us for more information. Email addresses and phone numbers are available on our contact page.

PLEASE NOTE:  Please check out http://www.petfinder.com for more courtesy listings and other BC and BC X's available through other sources.

DOMI

WONDERFUL COMPANION

Approx 4 yrs old, UTD on shots and neutered.

This is a intense little dog with a ton of love to give, he is a love bug and adores his people and can be a real goofy boy! He makes us laugh. Although he is intense Domi isn't a high matienence dog when it comes to exercise. He is quite happy to go for long leash walks and then settles wonderfully in the house. He loves to play with his toys and is keen to learn, he quickly warms up to new people when introduce calmly and positively. Currently he is living in foster care with a number of other Border Collies and he is doing great they are helping to teach him some manners! He is very herdy with other dogs and gets overly stimulated. He also is living with a parrot and although initially had very little impulse control he has quickly learned to leave it alone. He will be looking for a BC savvy home who has had experience with a dog that is INTENSE! who can give him lots of long walks in the forest and continue to build on his skills, impulse control and challange him.  In return you will get a fabulous companion.

No cats(or only SUPER dog savvy) or kids!

RALLY

EXPERIENCED DOG OWNER, SPORT OR HERDING HOME.

Rally is doing wonderful in his foster home but will need a very dog experience owner who has good training skills and is willing to continue to work with him. He definitely needs a focus. He is very relaxed and loves the cottage environment and just try to keep him out of the lake. If he is to be placed with another dog it will take time to socialize him, while it would be easier to place him alone he does enjoy the company of the other dogs and likes to play. He will not be placed around kids, he needs a adult only home!!!!!

2 yr old Male Border Collie

Neutered and UTD on shots.

Crate trained.

Rally is doing really well in foster care, we have been working hard to socialize him with both people and dogs. He does still need to be managed. Rally is a intense boy who LOVES to play frisbee and also swimming , we are currently starting him on some foundation sport training to help build confidence and give him something to do . He is a big handsome boy at approx 21 inches and 45 lbs.

ABSOLUTLY NO KIDS!!!!

JESSE

ACTIVE PET HOME

OR SPORTS POTENTIAL

Jessie is a 4 year old Lab/Beagle mix.  Jessie was one of our foster home’s dogsitting clients from the time she was a puppy.  She was originally adopted from the SPCA at 4mths old, and was relinquished to BCRO last fall.  She has lost her excess weight, become an active sporty dog, and has improved her dog social skills and enjoys playtimes with the dog groups every day.  She is good with most dogs, likes to play, and is fairly active.  She has her limits with some dogs as she doesn't tolerate pushy or physical dogs, but she usually walks away from dogs she doesn't want to play with.

Jessie was relinquished because she became too much for her owners to handle - they needed to manage her better, and Jessie soon found she could control her environment by growling or being defensive.  She hasn’t bitten, but has snapped a few times.  If she is handled in a non-confrontational, calm, yet strong manner, she is usually fine.  Her foster mom has known her since she was a puppy, and generally has no problems with her, but she knows her limits and how to calmly handle her.  Her owners tried hard to make this work for them, and finally decided to give her up last fall.

Jessie is crate trained, has some obedience training, and has started flyball training - working on that swimmers turn - she loves to work for food!!

Jessie is a fun dog that will make a nice companion, and maybe a starter performance dog for the right home.  Jessie would thrive in an active home where she would be part of the family, get an opportunity to get out and about to exercise and interact, and maybe even do some sports!  She would be best in a home that has some dog experience, and for safety we would suggest that she not be placed in a home with children.

Please contact foster mom Cathie at

UPDATE: Jimmy is currently enrolled in obedience classes at SuperDog Central with his foster mom! He is doing GREAT.

JIMMY

3-5 yr old male Red-White BC.

Neutered and titres done on vaccines.

Jimmy did go out on trial placement but is back with us in foster care.

He is noise sensitive and gets easily stimulated. When this happens he will re- direct with a nip! Usually to what ever is the source of the noise or anxiety.

He needs a home that will continue to build on his impulse control and obedience work. Overall he is a super friendly and lovable guy. He is fabulous with other dogs he just needs a home that will provide him with structure.

We are working on his skills in foster care and doing great. He will require a owner that is committed to following up on this work and providing good structure and management.

LEXI

1 yr old female Border Collie.

Spayed and UTD on shots.

LEX is a VERY high drive girl, she likes to keep busy and will need a experienced Border Collie home that can provide her with a suitable outlet, mentally and physically.

She has some resource issues with other dogs and can be quite reactive at times.

This is a crazy smart girl who already has started some frisbee and agility work in foster care. She picks it up with lightning speed. She is VERY fast and athletic.

We have been working very hard on basic skills and impulse control and she has come along in leaps and bounds.

Lex will only be placed in a adult home. She will need a home that will provide management. At this time we will give preference to homes already active and competitive in sports.

HENDRIX

1 yr old male Border Collie,

Neutered and UTD on shots.

Hendrix is back with BCRO after being out on Placement for 2 months.

After a few days he is settling back into foster care, we took him to the Triple Crown Championships to hang out with the gang and he got to meet and greet everyone.

We have started some foundation sport work with him in the couple of weeks he has been back. He is a big boy but very balanced and keen to play.

He will be back available for adoption in the next few weeks. Applications will be considered before hand.

NO KIDS.

This dog needs to be trained and handled using ONLY postive methods.

SADIE This is Sadie. She is with her owners in Toronto. Sadie is a healthy 2 year old lab mix, she is very lean and athletic. She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccninations.
Sadie is a loving dog with a ton of energy and deserves to be in a home where she can put that energy to good use: she is a super fast runner and loves to play and tug. She also likes to cuddle and is an especially eager foot-warmer in the winter.
Sadie is crate trained and calm in the house, but finds all the distractions of the big city hard to handle eg. skateboarders, cats and squirrels. She desperately wants to be with other dogs but needs to work on her manners, especially when greeting four-legged and two-legged friends.
She has been through basic obedience and has had the benefit of one on one training with a trainer in Toronto over the past year. Her current owners know that Sadie needs more training time than they can offer and opportunities to socialize with other dogs, to succeed. They want her to have a great life in an active household.

Sadie would be an excellent candidate for a dog sports home where she could learn frisbee or agility or flyball.

BAILEY Bailey is a spayed, 6 1/2-year old high-energy border-collie/black-lab/misc. cross who loves to walk, run and fetch (and fetch and fetch and fetch). An experienced dog owner with time to do more training would be an ideal match. She is house-trained but is comfortable indoors and out and in the water. She is great with people but she is aggressive around other dogs so a multi-dog home may not be a good match. She should not be in a home with children as she can resource guard around food or items she thinks are hers alone. She makes a good watch dog as she alerts the house to any goings-on on the property! She was originally adopted from the Humane Society at 1-years old but her owners are expecting a baby. She is a medium-sized dog, weighing in at about 45-50 lbs., and is up-to-date on her shots.
